Comment:

 If you're actually running 2.5.4 (there was a widespread hang-on-exit in
 2.5.3 which was fixed in 2.5.4 which is why deryni asked), please try
 [TipsForBugReports getting a debug log].

 Additionally, please install [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-
 us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx Process Explorer] and, when pidgin is hung,
 double-click on the pidgin.exe process, click on the Threads tab, and for
 each thread listed there, get a thread stack (there should be a button for
 that). The steps should be fairly similar to
