 In regards to the compatibility issues of GTK 2.0.0, such a change would
 most likely be suitable for a future release when this dependency can be
 droped. When that will be I do not know, but something to consider
 nonetheless.

 A move to a standardized solution, such that GtkTooltip attempts to
 provide, would be favorable given that it could support the current needs
 the program. The benefits would, in theory, be a standard, cross platform,
 proper behaviour of tooltips within the application w/o requiring explicit
 efforts of this dev team.

 The issues with the current tooltip implementation can however be combated
 with various patches such as these posted here.  However, this will
 require due diligence on behalf of project developers and user such as
 myself.
