 To second jarome...
Regarding File transfers between Yahoo Messenger users and Adium 1.3.3rc1
Yahoo account (using the underlying libpurple) on Mac -
File transfer from Yahoo Messenger users to Adium work. [The file
transfers directly to the Mac > User > (username) > Downloads. Although,
this is somewhat different, but entirely acceptable, functionality than
the file transfer chat inline display of transferred files from AIM users
 to Adium AIM.]

The issue is in the attempted transfer of files from the Adium / libpurple
user to the Yahoo Messenger or other Yahoo enabled chat client user.

Regardless of whether the file transfer option is selected from the
contact in the contact window or from the app top menu, the file transfer
transaction shows an attempt to send the file with a file transfer
progress window, the file acts as though it is sending and shows a
progress bar that shows the transfer progress as proceeding very fast
(Note: the file transfer time is entirely too fast, which is an indication
when testing that the transfer is failing). The Yahoo Messenger or other
chat client user on the other end does not see a request to receive the
file nor do they receive the actual file.
This has been checked with multiple contacts on different ISPs/networks
and different versions of Yahoo Messenger.

This is still a huge problem for Adium/libpurple users and has been for
 the last ~ 9 months.
