 I haven't had the "Buddy List Synchronization" issue occur with 2.5.8
 (Fedora Core 7), and have been communicating with my old non-hotmail MSN
 contacts without issues.

 2.5.8 also seems much more stable than some of the other recent versions.

 In my opinion, this issue can be closed.
