 Yesterday I added a bunch of Hotmail accounts using 2.5.2 under Ubuntu and
 the problem did not show.

 I did not show with Windows version 2.5.5 either.

 I can't get a newer version from Ubuntu repositories or from your site
 (the pidgin website times out right now, but it can just be my Internet
 connection).

 So, I'd say this appears to be fixed, even if it was not giving me this
 error always.
