Comment:

 What hotkey would you suggest? I can't think of anything that would make
 sense and I'm personally not sure I think being able to manually enter
 tabs into the input area is necessary (''especially'' for IRC, less so for
 things like XMPP)

 For the record, XMPP chat rooms ''do'' also tab-complete, so this issue
 affects all chat conversations, just not IM conversations)
