Comment:

 How silly that i hadnt noticed the version number, its updated from the
 normal repo's for ubuntu, ive added the pidgin repo and updated pidgin and
 its dependents.  Ive also removed the festival plugin as it only seemed to
 work when it wanted to and i wasnt 'that' bothered about it.

 Pidgin is now running and doesnt seem glitchy at all whereas before you
 kinda new it was about to drop out if i had magically had had it running
 for a minute or so.

 My many many thanks to you for all the prompt help, ive seen people write
 that the linux community it a very helpful one and glad to have had to
 experience although maybe not the actual buggy experience hehe.  thanks
 again.
