 I am no longer encountering this problem with Pidgin 2.5.5 as included in
 Ubunutu 9.04. I've now used it extensively for 3 days and during that time
 the only problem I encountered was pidgin crashing once after a wakeup
 from hibernate, but that was only one time out of a few wakeups. For me
 the problem appears to be fixed.
