Comment:

 You probably have a locally installed libpurple 2.5.7. Check where you're
 running pidgin from and then run `ldd pidgin` (check where the
 libpurple.so is located). Also try looking in /usr/local/lib/.

 If all that doesn't turn up a 2.5.7 libpurple, please get a debug log of
 this occurring.
