Comment:

 The FAQ has the location of the account information but I think that is
 rather unlikely to be the problem.

 pidgin appears to be finding two networks configured on your machine
 (assuming I'm reading the information correctly), a comcast one and the
 5.0.0.0 network, is that correct?

 Can you telnet (or similar) to messenger.hotmail.com:1863 or
 login.messaging.aol.com:5190? If not then pidgin isn't the problem.
