Comment:

 If that is in fact the case, and you can repeatedly reproduce it, then
 something is decidedly broken somewhere in the server because the user
 portion of your JID is case-insensitive and you need to talk to your
 service administrators about it.

 For what it is worth I can't reproduce that oddity on the Openfire 3.6.3
 server here at work.

 I'm going to close this as invalid since this isn't a pidgin issue at this
 point. Feel free to ask any questions you may still have though or report
 back if you get a response from the service admins.
