Coming from [http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/9414 #9414]
@mkmurray, the flushdns wont necessarily work because the dns still grabs
whichever server is next up in the round robin scheme. Since apparently
more and more servers are being migrated to the new protocol, the likely
hood that you will receive a compatible server is pretty low. To get
around this you can setup the server in your connection to use one of the
known servers which still works (who knows how long this will still be
up). The server I am using is 66.163.181.167 which is
cs102.msg.mud.yahoo.com
Also the title to this thread is misleading for some of the "duplicate"
threads because we are not receiving the mentioned error, while the cause
is the same the title is misleading and not applicable to the issues the
most recent people have been having. Pidgin just sits there saying its
connecting, no connection refused message. This could possibly be a
different bug because pidgin doesnt seem to be timing out the connection,
it appears to be infinitely trying to connect even though the initial
connection attempt never makes it through.
Should this be raised as a separate issue since no timeout is happening on
the connection attempt?
