Comment:

 This demands a lot of special-casing in our copy-and-paste code that I'm
 not a fan of.  I would consider a cleanly written patch to implement the
 support to paste GTK-supported images formats into IM-image capable chat
 windows if the clipboard contains one of those formats.  Just handling the
 HTML format copy-and-paste is a complicated special case though, so the
 more data we try to handle, the more of a mess this will be, especially
 because we have to argue with GTK over which clipboard data we want since
 it has its own implementation.

 Since this ticket is focused on OLE and lotus notes, if you want to open a
 new ticket about the image support features, we'll classify that as
 "patches welcome" in case someone is interested in doing that work.  Of
 course you might also want to reach out to one of our google summer of
 code students working on the Windows UI after the summer ends to see if
 they are interested in incorporating more clipboard integration into a
 native Windows alternative to Pidgin.
