Comment:
Your mockup has removed the infopane (the space at the top with the
username, status, and buddy icon), that is already a preference one can
toggle and is in no way something we are going to remove entirely.
Moving the buddies buddy icon to next to the input area is absolutely non-
sensical, it isn't your icon it is their icon, it has nothing to do with
what you are typing and everything to do with the other information about
your buddy we are currently displaying.
Your language translation creates significantly longer titles for the
toolbar buttons than does the default English (the default labels are
"Font", "Insert", and "Smile!"). That isn't an issue we can reasonably
work around, and is something you can take up with the translator for your
language if you want to. We could (and probably should) support using
icons only for those buttons but that is a separate feature request.
We don't support or maintain the OTR plugin, so where the OTR plugin
decides to put its information is not something we are in control of. I'm
not sure if we currently give plugins the ability to put icons in the
toolbar, if we don't perhaps we should, but it is worth considering that
the toolbar is entirely optional and that many people (myself included)
turn it off entirely.
It is also worth noting that even with your changes at the font size
depicted in your screenshot I believe you gain approximately one line of
extra history area space, which is not at all a compelling gain for what
are some rather costly, invasive, and extraneous changes.
