 The infromatio actually in the infopanle is redundant, the same
 information is in the tab, except user status phrase adn buddy icon. User
 status phrase can be displayed as a tooltip on the tab, and the buddyicon
 can go to other place.

 You are not totally right, if you put the buddy icon next to input area
 have sense for me, as you are typing a message to that buddy icon, so you
 know visually who is the target of the message.

 The option to display only icons must be taken from gtk global options
 like in all toolbars.

 The exact plugin here doesn't matters. The idea is all plugins have the
 possibility to put an icon to the right of the status bar, so when you
 install a new plugin you know where to find it.

 Really you gain around 3 lines of space, so the most important is to
 remove redundant information and have a clear window. So without invasive
 and extraneous changes anything advance :)
