#9488: Yahoo Connection Requires Separate Proxy Settings
-----------------------------+----------------------------------------------

Type: defect | Status: new
Component: Yahoo! | Version: 2.5.7
Keywords: proxy |

The new method for connecting to the Yahoo! service seems to perform two
operations, one for connecting to the communication hub
(scsa.msg.yahoo.com:5050 or 23) and the other to authenticate
(login.yahoo.com:443).
Unfortunately, the current implementation uses the proxy settings for both
connections. In my corporate environment, however, the proxy only cares
about the call over https. Therefore, I can connect to either
scsa.msg.yahoo.com or login.yahoo.com, but not both. Because of that,
Pidgin can't get a token and I get no login.
The Yahoo! Advanced tab needs a way to provide proxy settings individually
for each connection. I'm not sure if libpurple can support such a scheme,
but it's on my wish list.
