Comment:

 For the record, you're getting too technical with the raise/present
 distinction.  Users don't care about that, and if they want a window
 raised so that they can see it, that includes if it's minimized.  Also,
 Pidgin before 2.0 did exactly that (and I think itself, I don't remember
 it being a plugin, not that that's important), so it was a regression.
 Finally, before the patch in Bug 2145 was merged, there was no way to have
 Pidgin deiconify the window at all.

 As far as the Mandriva patch, I'm not sure if the Present option has
 anything to do with it, because the patch isn't to notify.c.  It could be
 that the patch is to code that notify calls, but there's not enough
 context in the patch to tell, and I can't find a websvn or anything to
 look up the Pidgin code.  Anyway, hopefully they'll just remove the patch
 and this is a non-issue for upstream Pidgin.
