Comment:

 It seems this is related to my Jabber account - I disabled it (by manually
 setting 'auto-login' to 0 on both ui='gtk-gaim' and 'gnt-purple' in
 .purple/accounts.xml) and the application loaded successfully. Lets see
 how stability fares.
 I am reassigning the component to XMPP.
