Comment(by anoftc):

 Hey,

 The computer I am using now is a different (stronger) computer than the
 one I used before, so thats why the cpu usage values are smaller, but
 still cpu usage tops at 50% with pidgin with many smilies in the text (50%
 meaning that one core working at 100%) ...

 So, test case: 6 smilies in the text, two with slow animations, one with
 medium speed animation, and last with quick animation... CPU usage is
 around 15-22%, even if the conversation window is not shown (e.g. now when
 I am typing this text... It seems like animation speed matters more than
 animation size)

 CPU usage is same if the conversation window is on top. Now I start typing
 into the conversation window...

 After writing 35 lines into the conversation window, and reducing the
 conversation window's size to show ~10 lines instead of ~25 lines, cpu
 usage is still the same, 15-20% right now while I am typing this text.

 So, even if its a gtk bug, it shouldn't be "wontfix" ....

 Hope this helps,
 Bye,
 Zs
