 Pidgin started exploding on me on a fresh Vista box shortly after I
 installed the latest PHP binary release. I downloaded the Pidgin debug
 version and discovered that it was exploding in c:\php\aspell-15.dll, in
 which it was obvious what was going on.

 I removed c:\php from my PATH, and everything started working again. I'm a
 bit confused though, as I figured the Pidgin EXE would prefer the local
 directory version over one in the PATH (since the Pidgin shortcut starts
 in the dir), but perhaps Vista has changed this behavior? Any way Pidgin
 can force such a thing, or at least detect this early on and complain
 about the wrong DLL?
