 I use pidgin on Ubuntu 9.04 and use pictures of my contacts as their user-
 specified buddy icons. However, because of the notify-osd daemon in
 Jaunty, I try to overwrite their icons in ~/.purple/icons with those
 pictures. For the most part, it works but if they change their icon it
 gets overwritten. I tried making the ~/.purple/icons folder unwritable,
 but it seems that pidgin would then just write to some other hidden
 folder. Is there a way I can lock the buddy icons that I see?
