 pidgin is functioning properly. By signing in at home you force the server
 to disconnect your other connection, pidgin sees this and (in an attempt
 to not lock you into a sign-on/sign-off loop) disables the account so that
 we do not automatically reconnect it.

 By signing off manually you remove the need for the server to trigger the
 forced disconnection.

 Regardless, your complaint here was not about how pidgin handles the
 scenario but rather about how we indicate to you that it has happened. No
 other MSN client can (without supporting multiple simultaneous logins, if
 that is even possible) can handle the disconnection better, at best they
 can present the notice to you better and offer an easier way to sign back
 on.
