 I had this problem, Aim was showing all buddies offline even on my
 cellphone and in AIm express.

 I saw elsewhere that having "allow multiple logins" selected under
 Advanced creates this issue.

 The suggestions above did not work for me, what did work was in Pidgin,
 under Help, clicking "debug window" and then changing status to offline
 and then back to available.
