 I have been having this problem with 2.6.2.   Tried the "Help/Debug
 Window/change status to offline and then back online."   That didn't work
 but got this error message in the debug window when I tried to IM after
 that:

 (08:50:53) oscar: Message error with data xxxxxx at mac.com and reason 16
 [user name deleted by me]

 I've also tried quiting pidgin and restarting it, which works sometimes
 but not every time.
