 With all due respect - this is stupid... Make bugreports private??? WHY?

 So that this way everyday pidgin users who are not registered on this page
 will not be able to search for pidgin bugs???

 So that this way bugs will be hidden from ordinary people, and only the
 "noble" registered pidgin page members will be able to see the bugs?

 So that this way whenever someone has a problem, (s)he must login and
 register to see if the problem will or will not be fixed?

 So that outsider and non-registered but interested developers cannot see
 which bugs are "patches welcomed"?

 So that web crawlers like google cannot index the bugreports and pidgin
 bugs will be cut off from the rest of the web??? whoooo, we can make
 secret bugreports!

 You may as well box and close or encrypt the whole bugtracking system and
 give the password only to some selected developers, and this way you won't
 have the trouble of all the bugreports... Why not delete all the users,
 and close off registration?

 This is just another step to cut off users from contacting pidgin
 developers...

 I think this is a very bad decision!
