 The issue here isn't that it breaks API stuff or anything like that, it
 breaks identifying data written in configuration files, it will break
 external scripts that want to use the DBus api, it will require moving of
 log directories (jabber -> xmpp), it will also break third party plugins
 (for the same reason it breaks DBus scripts).

 There is virtually no up side to such a change and large potential issues
 and wide-spread updates required to various things all over the place.

 It would also mean that anyone who was sharing a configuration directory
 between machines would be unable to share that between pre-change versions
 and post-change versions (which is quite possibly going to be the case
 anyway, but I see no reason to force it with a change like this).

 Why do you want this change to be made?
