#10631: Pidgin crashes when attempt to add a buddy

 I just installed Pidgin 2.6.3 and successfully signed-in. I am using
 Windows XP x64 SP2. When I attempt to add a Buddy, I receive a dialog box
 from Windows asking me if I want to use the Microsoft Visual Studio
 debugger. I do have Visual Studio 2008 installed but not running. After
 saying 'no', Pidgin is dead and the attempted 'Add' has not taken place.
 Both myself and the person I am attempting to add are 'gmail' accounts.
 There is one other buddy being displayed from a earlier version of Pidgin
 and is correctly displaying the status of that buddy - also 'gmail'.
 Restarting Pidgin is successful but the Buddy is nowhere to be found.
