 I think this is due to DirectIM(Oscar Direct Connect or Oscar File
 Transfer) dominates handling of data stream.

 in libpurple/protocols/oscar/peer.c

 This also causes double byte text to get garbled while connected with
 ODC2.


 DirectIM should open separate data stream with text chat.
