Comment:

 What happens with the basic theme that ships with pidgin? Are you trying
 to install that theme again? That debug log doesn't seem to contain
 anything relevant to smiley theme installation, are you sure that's the
 output from when you tried to install a smiley theme? (It is possible that
 smiley theme installation failing doesn't log any errors, which would be
 unfortunate.)
