 When I start an MSN conversation with a buddy using Pidgin (currently
 version 2.6.2 on Windows, but the symptoms have been seen on earlier
 versions), my messages to the buddy have extra tabs and spaces appended to
 them, until the buddy sends a message.  After the buddy sends a message,
 the problem goes away.

 Note the following debug output (with the tabs changed to \t to be easier
 to see here):

 (15:00:28) msn: send IM {<font color="#2c5631"><font face="Lucida Sans
 Unicode">test</font></font> \t  \t\t\t\t \t \t \t   \t \t  \t   \t\t  \t }
 to buddy at example.com

 After the buddy has replied the trailing tabs and spaces are gone:

 (15:00:46) msn: send IM {<font color="#2c5631"><font face="Lucida Sans
 Unicode">thank you</font></font>} to buddy at example.com

 I do have OTR messaging as a plug-in, but am not using it with this buddy
 or conversation.

 The same symptoms do not occur using Google (Jabber/XMPP).
