 Some of my AIM buddies use the < character in their status messages. When
 I hover over their screen names in either the buddy list or the
 conversation window, the tooltip that appears only contains their screen
 name. All other text that used to appear there is gone, including stuff
 added by plugins such as "Last Seen."

 This also seems to happen with ICQ buddies.

 This produces the exact same behavior that I reported for ticket #2657, so
 I'd assume it has a similar cause.
