 None of the various issues mentioned in 8218 are what I'm talking about.

 BTW listing a directory is fast as long as it isnt stating each file,
 which it's not.  One big log file would be great except for the problem
 I'm describing in this bug, and also that then the history plugin would
 need a setting to limit how much it loads.
