 The generic beep that occurs when you backspace to remove your reply for
 too long, or to close a pounce is WAY too loud.  I'd like to be able to
 use sounds but when I use headphones, the beeps blow me away even when the
 rest of my volumes are fine.

 I searched and your bug history implies a volume control was added to
 Preferences but I was unable to locate anything there but the Mute Sounds
 that seems applicable.
