 Lopan says do it with buddy pounces.

 I don't see a way to do this with the current buddy pounce system (since
 that is Pidgin specific, I start there) but perhaps an enhancement can be
 made for when you log in that such options can be set on a per user basis
 (if need be, as apparently would need to be done with the current state of
 the protocol(s) involved).

 E.g. you log in and you have x amount of users that you want to appear
 permanently online (such as indicated above, such a status would allow
 only them to see you when you are invisible). Once you log in to the
 specific protocol (in this case Yahoo), these "pounces" would activate and
 automatically put that user in the "appear online" mode while leaving
 everyone else in the dark. It shouldn't be too hard to implement.
