 Compiled a fresh version of 2.6.6 under linux/X to verify.

 Put a cup on the keyboard - leave for a few mins.
 After a couple of minutes, CPU hits 100%.
 After a half an hour or so, removing the cup leaves pidgin wedged, and
 will not recover for extended periods.

 CPU is at 100% throughout this period.

 This is with IRC - I do not have any other networks I use to test with.

 The debug window shows nothing.
