#11758: Video connection fails with no error when using the wrong video input

I am using pidgin 2.6.6 on Fedora 12 (on a MacBook with a built in camera)
to talk to Google's web-based Google Talk client on Mac OS X 10.6. I have
found that if I do not choose the correct video input, then trying to
initiate a call fails with no error.

First, I start pidgin, and select Tools->Plugins->Configure Voide/Video
Settings. I then configure all AV inputs and outputs to "Default."

Next, I initiate a call from Mac OS X. The Mac OS X client starts making a
ringing noise. I return to Pidgin on Fedora and notice
"user at gmail.com/iGoogleXXXXXXXX wishes to start an audio/video session
with you - Cancel - Accept." I click accept, but the call does not
establish. The Google client continues to make ringing noises and
eventually states, "There was an error with the call."

If I set my video input to "Video4Linux2" instead of "Default," then
everything works. One difference is that pidgin now says, "Some name
wishes to start an audio/video session with you (note the lack of
 user at gmail.com/iGoogleXXXXXXXX)."

I would expect that in the former case pidgin would at least present an
error. It would be even better if pidgin detected that Video4Linux2 was
 required.
