 You're encountering the issue described in [wiki:"Protocol Specific
 Questions#gtalk_srv" this FAQ entry].

 If you're unable to fix your router so that DNS SRV requests go through,
 you can manually specify "talk.google.com" in the Connect Server field of
 the Advanced settings of your account within Pidgin.
