 You can set a proxy in the Preferences window, then on your Yahoo account
 make sure the checkbox for "Use account proxy for SSL connections" is
 ''not'' checked (I believe that's what it's labeled--it's changing in
 2.7.3 as part of the fixes that were ''supposed'' to be in 2.7.2 but
 didn't make it).  Then set the Proxy on the account's Proxy tab to "No
 proxy".  It's possible that by making this configuration adjustment you'll
 have to make the same "No proxy" setting adjustment on any other accounts
 you have configured in Pidgin.
