Comment(by thijsputman):

 A quick look with Process Explorer at the DLL's in use by Pidgin shows it
 is "using" glib/gmodule from both PHP's installation folder and the local
 GTK folder. In both cases it appears the files from the local GTK folder
 are actually "in use"...
