Comment:

 Pidgin requires GTK+.

 The default installer will attempt to download GTK+ if it isn't already
 present on the system.  If for some reason, this fails, the installer will
 point you to instructions on how to get GTK+ installed.  It sounds like
 you've ignore the error message; you will need to use the "Offline"
 installer from http://pidgin.im/download/windows/
