 Please follow [wiki:TipsForBugReports the instructions] to get a debug log
 and attach it to this ticket.[[BR]]Pidgin will already automatically try
 to bind to a different random port if the specified "Local Port" is
 unavailable.

 I'm not sure it is really appropriate to use the "Listen Port Range" in
 the network preferences - those are generally used for inbound connections
 from the public IP.

 Your case of trying to run multiple users on the same machine is supported
 by Pidgin but may not work with other clients that require the local port
 to be 5298 (e.g. old versions of iChat).

 You should really supply the concurrent debug logs from these two users as
 without those specifics, there isn't much to go on here.
