New description:

Quite often during a chat it becomes fairly obvious that I have missed a
line of text sent by the other person (it doesn't appear that they miss
 anything sent by me).
Without fail, upon my next log in I will receive those missing lines all
at once and can match them to the conversation using the timestamps. I've
been watching this for some time now and neither party is going off-line
at all when the lines aren't sent/received.

As far as I am aware the people this happens with are using standard MSN.

Unable to submit a debug log because I obviously don't have a clue why
this occurs, or when (prior to receiving the wall of text of missing lines
 later ;)).

I'm not using any plugins at all. This has happened throughout a number of
 versions of Pidgin.

Edit: In addition to receiving the missing lines when I next reload
Pidgin, I also get re-sent some of the lines I did get, with the missing
lines placed in the correct part of the conversion.
