 I see this has been an ongoing problem for some people but did not find
 any definitive fix. My apologies if I overlooked a fix.

 I did not have this problem until upgrading to 2.7.9 via yum. I am
 currently running Fedora 7. I do not mind having to have the buddy list
 permanently open in the task tray but ..... I habitually click the X
 because this has always worked in the past. I have multiple accounts and
 do not have my password saved for security reasons so I have type in my
 password every time I forget to minimize instead of close. I did try
 changing the systray setting from always to unread messages - close (to
 save???) - and setting back to always. This did not help.
