The other issue I ran into was after installing the latest pidgin, it
could not connect to XMPP over SSL (googletalk). It would simply come back
with a "denied/unautorized" type of a message. I finally fixed it by
installing the latest Win32 OpenSSL package. Maybe it can be bundled with
the new installer or at least the appropriate DLLs with pidgin.
I guess one issue is, as I understand it, Windows will first search the
system directory to load a dll *before* the application directory. I
believe there are system calls that change the order of DLL loading for an
application though; I had to look this up one time on MSDN.
