 Try entering your username as "thenamefromme\40mailueberfall.de".
 Otherwise, are there instructions on GMX's website that you're actually
 supposed to use 'gmx.de' as the domain (and not enter xmpp-gmx.gmx.net' as
 the Connect Server)?
