 @dlenski: Thanks, you should put up a link to the binary packages here.
 I've had some people using Ubuntu e-mailing me, and unfortunately I
 haven't been able to help them much since I use Gentoo.

 Sorry about the tray icon --- the UI generally does not seem to expect the
 status to be reset from the server, and therefore the pidgin code (as
 opposed to the libpurple code) doesn't always update everything correctly.
 I put in a fix to the status bar code, but since I don't use the tray icon
 (I have ratpoison as my window manager :) ), I missed that.

 I'm not really sure whether there are any plans by the pidgin devs to
 include this patch (or shared status support in general). Going by the
 comments in

 it appears that there aren't :). If I upgrade to a later version of
 pidgin, I'll update the patch for that version and put it up here as well.
