 sigh. nothing like leaving a long interaction and then losing it because
 apparently my cookie expired.

 i have installed the two packages indicated here, and we've definitely
 made some progress. currently the video call window stays open and i can
 see the remote ends cam, though the quality is abysmal. i can see myself
 on my cam and that looks pretty good. on the remote end the person there
 reports that my picture does not move, but they get random frames
 occasionally updating. the frames they get are nowhere near real time, and
 in fact during a short test call seemed to get further and further from
 real time, some coming in many minutes afterward. [e.g. i take off my hat,
 and 4 minutes later the single frame received has me without a hat]

 additionally, though sound works in an audio only call, it did not work
 during the video call.
