 the history plugin is great, except that in high volume channels the log
 files get so big that when you restart pidgin it spins the cpu for several
 minutes loading them, so to work with irc use the history plugin should
 only load the tail 10000 bytes from each log file.

 there are other solutions, but that's the easiest to impliment and would
 be quite sufficient.
