#11124: groups spontaneously generating and not merging properly

 I first noticed this couple of errors a few weeks ago. Sometimes I get one
 or more groups with unreadable names show up in my buddy lists, and if I
 delete them, it only lasts until the next time I start up pidgin. The
 groups are useless, random, and redundant. They look sort of like this:

 The other weird thing that started at the same time is that for some
 reason, on one of the computers that I use pidgin on, my 'facebook' group
 changes its name to 'other friends' every time I start pidgin. When I
 rename it, it asks if I want to merge the groups, even though there is no
 other 'facebook' group to merge with. I know you don't support 3rd party
 plugins, but assuming these two issues are related, I don't think the
 facebook plugin is responsible because the first issue seems to only
 affect my AIM contacts.
