 In a YM conversation, click the `Insert` button, then choose `Link`.

 The resulting dialog window has a field for the `URL`, but not a field for
 the link text (`Description`). However, if you go to an XMPP conversation,
 or to Tools -> Preferences -> Conversations, there '''will''' be a
 `Description` field.

 This may apply to other protocols that do support hyperlink text (such as
 AIM).
